How to Use the Cards

Present the card: Show the card displaying the letter or sight word clearly.

Read together: Pronounce the letter or sight word clearly and encourage the child to repeat it.

Match the letter form: Display the different forms of the letter beneath the word. Ask the child to match the word with the correct letter form. As the child matches, say the letter sounds and the word aloud to reinforce phonological learning.

Find the card: Spread out several cards and ask the child to find the letter or sight word that you say aloud.

Colors, shapes, lines, and numbers cards: Provide several options of shapes, colors, lines, or numbers (including distractors), then ask the child to match the word with the correct corresponding shape, color, line, or number. Example: the numeral 1 with the word one.

Memory game: Place the cards face down and ask the child to find matching pairs (e.g., two identical sight-word cards).

Build the word: Divide the word into two parts. Pronounce the word slowly with the child, pausing between each part. Then give the child the word pieces and ask them to arrange them in the correct order to form the complete word. Finally, have the child read the completed word aloud and match it to the corresponding picture.
